Needle lace, Carrickmacross, Lace from Lierse, crochet, tatted lace, knitted lace and bobbin lace. Each kind has charmes of its own and its own people, who like to make it.
This site is about bobbin lace, because I like to make it and therefore I am the most familiar with it. Not all bobbin lace is the same. There are big differences between par example, the dense and originally white Skansk lace and the fine, black Chantilly.
