Dentelle de Luxeuil

| In the Vosges there is a town Luxueil. Here lace is made: la Dentelle de Luxueil. It is mixed lace of machine made lacets and needle lace. |

The lacet is to be attached to the pattern. The lacet is especially made for this purpose. At both sides a thread is woven, that can drawn to make beautifull roundings.
The spaces between lacets are being filled with needle lace stitches. Sometimes as on this pattern also the sides are being worked with needle lace stitches.

In the "Atelier de la Dentelle" or the 'Conservatoire de la Dentelle" a group of women are coming every week to make lace. This way the lace industry stays vived in Luxeuil and is the quality kept on a high level. In the Atelier classic lace is made as well as modern lace. |
