Bobbins

Bobbins with which I make my lace.

My first bobbins.

Probable because I learned to make lace with these, they still are my favorites. They are a little bit smaller than normal and quite suitable for diffent sizes of threads.

I inheritted these bobbins of my grandmother. Now we would call them "Dutch bobbins". They are thin, do weight less, so quite suitable for thin threads.
These also belonged to my granmother. The upper one is common wood, probably birch. The other one is made of palmwood. This feels very smooth. You also see, that this bobbin became warped a little bit during the years. Common wood doesn't do that.

Except for the head the same form as the bobbins above. It is also the same wood (birch). I have also the same ones made of palmwood. The palmwooded ones also became warped.

These bobbins I inheritted of my mother. A couple of years ago they were called Swedish or Danish bobbins.
