Designing and drawing of lace patterns

After I made a couple of years lace using existing patterns, I felt the urge to design lace myself. The first designs were simple and perhaps technically not fully correct, but it becomes better each time I do it.

Since a few years I use besides pen and paper also the computer for drawing and designing.
I use a Macintosh computer with the program Adobe Illustrator 10. To use the program fully, which I probably not do, it is necessary to practise and find directions and tips to let the program do the work for you. Besides the books about Illustrator 10 the book "Let's Draw Lace Pattern With A Computer" by Etsuko Haraga a must.

To show the visitor of this site a little bit, how lace patterns can be made on a computer without using special lace programs, but only a normal drawing program, I decided to make some examples and declare how it is done. Most lace program you cannot use on a Macintosh computer, as they are only designed for Windows. But also without these programs it is possible to make lace patterns on the computer.
To be honest I have to say, that Adobe Illustrator is a very sophisticated drawing program with a lot of possibilities. This program is also available for Windows.
