Lace group ’t Aemstelkant

The lace group ’t Aemstelkant was formed in 1984 as the fourth group in Amsterdam. It was and still is the only group here that comes together in the evening. Originally was chosen for the evening, because most members had a job, making it difficult to attend daytime meetings.

The group is affiliated with the L.O.K.K. The National Organization for Lace Arts.

We still meet in the evening on the first Tuesday of every month.
The next group meeting will be on the 4th of September 2012.

In the next meetings we will be busy with the theme of the 35th anniversary of the LOKK in 2013 'a sea full of lace'. Besides that we are still making little pieces of lace for our 'album technicorum'.

In 2009 we existed 25 years. On this occasion there was an anniversary exhibition in the Public Bilbliotheek, Willem Weldammelaan 5 in Amsterdam Buitenveldert.
For this exhibition, we were during the last few years working on translating Amsterdam towers, houses and structures into lace. Also lace designed by Karen Marie Iversen was exhibited. In the showcase little cushions with Dutch lace, Binche lace, lace pillow and a statue of a lace worker were to be seen.

The exhibition was held until the 31st of December, 2009
