The lace group “The Lace Attic” has set itself the target of making new designs by using ancient techniques. It is possible to use these techniques in a modern way in the design or to develop these techniques further sothat they appear in contemporary pieces to their advantage.
The group consists of Lia Baumeister, Gon Homburg and Christa van Schagen. The name is derived from the original meeting place. The group came together in a church attic. Unfortunately this is not possible anymore and we come together in the members houses.
Beneath a number of joint pieces we made.
Price lise of Laces of the company Willem Kops in Haarlem, 1752
In 2008, the lace group “The Lace Attic”published a booklet with reconstructed laces from the Price List of the company Willem Kops from Haarlem. This price list was issued in 1752 and includes samples from different laces, which were probably made in France and sold by the company in Mexico. The original catalog is in the City Archives of Haarlem.
For the booklet we reconstructed the lacesof the first 5 pages of this catalog.
The booklet is out of print. We are busy reconstructing the next pages.
